Welcome to

Milk + /hʌni/ Therapy & Consulting!

Milk +/hʌni/ (honey in phonetics) hopes to provide a non-judgemental, neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, holistic service model that allows us to believe that we are abundant and doing our best as people, parents, and children. This allows us to take into account the whole child or person, not just their diagnosis or speech-language, swallowing or feeding difficulties, or behavioral concerns—but why they are having difficulties.

SPEECH-LANGUAGE

VOICE THERAPY

Schedule a 60-minute speech/language or voice evaluation in the comfort of your home or in-office in Red Bank, NJ to evaluate your child’s expressive language, receptive language, play skills, sensory needs, and possible therapy program. LACTATION CARE

Pending phone interview and medical record review, in-office 60-minute evaluation available for adults experiencing swallowing problems. Functional oral motor movements and structures will be observed. For older children, oromyofunctional skills and structure will be assessed. For lactating parents, we can further discuss breastfeeding issues, pumping, re-lactation, bottle refusals, and assist you in being successful on your breastfeeding journey! Virtual follow-ups are also available. Travel fees may apply based on distance from Red Bank, NJ.

PROFESSIONAL CONSULTING

PARENT/INDIVIDUAL COACHING

This 30-60 minute virtual option is great for therapists or parents who want to learn more about neurodiversity affirming practices, autism, gestalt language processing/natural language acquisition, sensory processing, feeding/oral motor skills, lactation care, and discuss specific challenges within cases. Assistance with possible behavioral difficulties or concerns is also available. 1:1 support is also available for individuals and parents/caregivers post autism diagnosis to assist in determining the next steps, emotional help, advocacy, and educational planning. This is also available for non-local parents and individuals looking for support and guidance.

Testimonials

  • "Truly changed our whole journey for the better and with her whole being puts everything into her work and changing the mindset of how stressful feedings can be. "

Bettina is a life changer! From spending 6 months in the NICU to coming home with a g-tube. Bettina was seriously a gift from god sent to us to help us in our journey with our son home. From the first visit, Bettina listened to my concerns and I felt like she was an old friend. With her help, our son was completely bottle fed by two months of being home. I recommend her to any parent noticing issues or even just scared to be alone while trying new textures. She has been a simple text away helping me with any guidance and support she can offer. Truly changed our whole journey for the better and with her whole being puts everything into her work and changing the mindset of how stressful feedings can be. We love Bettina and can’t thank her enough for not only the immense help, but the greatest support.

  • "She is so kind and helpful and has really helped me with my breathing tremendously. "

I have been working with Bettina for a few years. She is so kind and helpful and has really helped me with my breathing tremendously. I was struggling to breathe during exercising, but by showing me how, Bettina taught me how to breathe better during exercising and doing gymnastics routines. Bettina is a pleasure to meet with and I always look forward to our sessions!

  • "Having her guidance helped my confidence not only in being a mother, but what my body could still do even with the trauma of my son's birth. "

Bettina helped me heal in ways I can't even explain. Like from being my first friend at home who has seen the things we have and also the journey it takes to help. Having her guidance helped my confidence not only in being a mother, but what my body could still do even with the trauma of my son's birth. Bettina gave me back so much time I thought I had lost. Even though breastfeeding didn't work out, it was amazing to know that the time away from my NICU baby wasn't the main reason it didn't work. Teaching us and taking the time to educate us in a helpful way and not ever looking down on us for just not knowing. Bettina's demeanor and attitude about what she does is what makes it all. I truly don't believe we would've figured things out as quickly or as seamlessly without her being who she is. From one mama to another, thank you so much Bettina for getting me through the hardest times.

  • "She does not focus on "drilling" language development because that type of pedagogy does not fit all children. "

We are very grateful that we are working with Ms. Bee to help our four year old son with his speech development. Our son started working with Ms. Bee when he was three years old. He adores her and looks forward to seeing her. She is an expert in speech development who focuses on natural language acquisition. What is evident about Ms. Bee is that she embraces theory and praxis as she works with children. She focuses on creating meaningful play experiences that help children with natural language acquisition. She does not focus on "drilling" language development because that type of pedagogy does not fit all children. Ms. Bee has even accompanied our son to his swim lessons and has even ventured with our family to other play areas where she focuses on helping our son develop language skills in his everyday experiences. She is a really knowledgeable speech therapist.

  • "Overall, working with Bettina helped me be informed, knowledgeable and empowered for my breastfeeding journey."

Working with Bettina has been a phenomenal experience. I connected with her initially before I gave birth to my son, which was helpful to mentally game plan and get organized for when he was actually earth side. Bettina helped me talk through concerns that were lingering from my first child’s early feeding journey. She helped me refresh on how to manually express and position the baby to set me up for success for his arrival. She helped me post birth with ensuring my latch was on point and that I was addressing any concerns early on. Bettina made herself accessible to me via phone calls and texts at anytime. It was amazing that Bettina came onsite to my home to help which was insanely helpful between being super pregnant, having a toddler at home, being in the hospital and being newly home with the newborn. She helped me when I had questions adjusting to life at home with the baby, thinking through how to incorporate pumping and bottle feeds. Overall, working with Bettina helped me be informed, knowledgeable and empowered for my breastfeeding journey. It was a 150% smoother experience with my baby boy than it was with my first due to having Bettina on my side and team. Highly recommend her services!
